2016 PCQ Zone Teams Sporting Challenge – Hendra

Congratulations to all our 12yrs & Under riders that represented SEQ Zone 2 Pony Clubs at the recent 2016 PCQ Zone Teams Sporting Challenge at Hendra.  Only 3 of the 8 riders riding had represented Zone 2 before and we also had the youngest rider under saddle at 6yrs of age – Lachlan Lane riding Maverick from Tamborine Pony Club.

An early start to the day, first up Presentation with both of our teams placing.  Zone 2 Team 1 -Ashleigh Lane – Tamborine; Kasey Landers – Jimboomba, Oceania Graham – Tallebudgera and Chelsea Lowe – Cedar Creek, placing 3rd in Presentation and 3rd Overall, and Zone 2 Team 2 – Connor Lane – Tamborine, Lachlan Lane – Tamborine, Jessica Northey – Nerang and Lucy Doneathy – Jimboomba winning the Presentation Class with 4 adorable little grey ponies and 5th Overall.  All the horses looked amazing exceptionally clean, plaited, painted with beautiful red flowers in their manes and tails,  and the young riders were all immaculate.

A special mention to Oceania Graham – Tallebudgera, riding Jelly Bean, Oceania was not feeling well and even when she was at her lowest point Oceania did not let the team down.  She showed great strength and sportswomanship to ride for her Team

Both our teams were competitive throughout the day with a few mistakes, with all our Zone 2 riders cheering on their Team Mates as well as other riders from other Zones. A big thank you to Cody Ticknell from Zone 6 who assisted Lachlan Lane in the Sporting Figure of 8, Lachlan rode the right way and did not get eliminated, with the best ride of the day – two little boys from two different zones helping each other out.

Abig thank you to Taqwa Lane in assisting with the pencilling all day for the 12yrs & Under group through all the events, also to Cheryl Morrison in assisting the team and running the fastest Clover Leaf all day, to the parents and the riders for taking part in this great Team Event.
